timo jalkanen It's very hard to pick one track from this excellent debut. Listening to this album somehow feels like discovering a long lost treasure. It's nostalgic but still fresh. It is raw and warm. The songwriting is mature and original. Love it. Favorite track: Only the Ocean Knows.

Rich James Lab Notes is a carefully constructed symphony of synth-pop but with a depth of emotion that is often lacking with other artists. Not with Pulse Lab though! Dasha weaves her emotive voice through melodies of pain and loss but always with an uplifting hope that pervades. My favourite tracks are Kill The Distance and Access Denied which showcase her skill, power and vulnerability perfectly. A top-notch album that I will return to time and again.
Leave the Night is a sublime duet that soars. Favorite track: Access Denied.

Tears of a Fool Carelessly life is playing its games Winners and losers - different titles, same names You never know if you’re blessed or you’re damned the next day Your sensitive soul is your Achilles heel Don’t expect the world to feel how you feel Live in this moment, it’s not here forever to stay I’ve always lived with my heart tied That voice of reason in my mind Tears of a fool I’ve always cried I’ve hardly dared, I’ve hardly tried Tired to be blamed, I’m never right Tears of a fool I’ve always cried Dreamers have never been a popular theme Parents’ concern that you won’t serve the scheme Be useful for the upper class, just like the rest of us Why don’t you bend under the society’s will? Doesn’t this sacred mission give you a thrill? We save the system leaving us with scars I’ve always lived with my heart tied That voice of reason in my mind Tears of a fool I’ve always cried I’ve hardly dared, I’ve hardly tried Tired to be blamed, I’m never right Tears of a fool I’ve always cried Don’t cry anymore You can’t, can’t cry anymore So, wipe out these tears of a fool Yes, life can be so blindly cruel I’ve always lived with my heart tied That voice of reason in my mind Tears of a fool I’ve always cried As long as you keep the light in your heart The darkness won’t turn you into something you’re not Please, no more, please, no more, please, no more

Music Is Dead (Hope Mix) The weather forecast never puts even a slight frown on your face Save the blind lost is what must matter the most Gently you place your old guitar in a black worn case Will you melt any hearts’ thickening frost? Music is dead They must be mad Your guitar wails heartbreaking tales Music is dead That’s what they said Leave us alone in our happy zone Play your heart out in the flow of tired minds and faces Dimmed eyes look straight but fail to see straight Music knocks in again, it can’t leave any traces In those who forgot how to relate Music is dead They must be mad Your guitar wails heartbreaking tales Music is dead That’s what they said Leave us alone in our happy zone Let the power of music push its way to your senses I want to see your eyes open wide, Finally awaken, look beyond your illusory mental fences Break in, shake out your mind, listen to your soul Even though it’s aching Even though Music is dead (is it really dead?) They must be mad (so mad, so sad) Your guitar wails heartbreaking tales Music is dead (is it really dead?) That’s what they said (what they said?) Leave us alone in our happy zone La-la-la-la (xxx times)

Only the Ocean Knows Nights sing Tender lullabies to me I’m lost in memories When I was so carefree I close my eyes, the same story on replay Two souls met, two hearts felt, one night and one day Sweet and salty first kiss Whispers lost in the breeze Only the ocean knows Once we were so close Winds sigh About fragile dreams and hope Was it all happen accidentally With no higher aim involved? I open my eyes: the reality grabs me tight Naivety lingers: one day we’ll get it right Sweet and salty first kiss Whispers lost in the breeze Only the ocean knows Once we were so close Skies weep with me A dark-silver canvas of misery I paint pictures only I see Of what our love could ever be Sweet and salty first kiss Whispers lost in the breeze Only the ocean knows Once we were so close
4.
Kill the Distance Since then, we are apart Dreams are my favorite dimension The reality tests the heart, And it leads to the comprehension Life without you is a wistful existence I cannot stand that indifferent distance I wish I could kill the distance Since then, a silver plane Stole you and took to foreign lands I fight my inner rain The only cure lies in your hands Nothing and no one will break my resistance I reply to the distance with the war of persistence I wish I could kill the distance So close not long ago, And then you had to go, Already so distant In only one instant
5.
Nobody Is Here Already since the early age The social hierarchy claims the stage Among small girls and boys You are nobody’s choice Then you survive school breaks of doom Trapped in a hall or a classroom Against big boys Your silent screams, their violent joys A stable job, awards in words Your life tunes made of minor chords No one would know, how could they tell? You hide your inner hell And from a lonely year to year This solitude has grown even more severe And yet you claim you’re keeping well Oh well Nobody is here Is that your biggest fear? Nobody is you convinced with your own lies Afraid to see this love in my eyes Nobody is here, Is that your biggest fear?
6.
Access Denied Hail our social democracy Free of a blatant hypocrisy Greet this rare opportunity Belong to our community Don’t waste your time confusing me With the whirlpool of lies infusing me They won’t ever occupy my mind Try and find access denied Don’t waste your time confusing me With the whirlpool of lies infusing me They won’t ever occupy my mind Try and find access denied With structured thoughts in our heads We dwell so well on our meds Forbidden urges - no threat to us There’s nothing else left to discuss Don’t waste your time confusing me With the whirlpool of lies infusing me They won’t ever occupy my mind Try and find access denied Don’t waste your time confusing me With the whirlpool of lies infusing me They won’t ever occupy my mind Try and find access denied These empty words They don’t mean nothing Yet they cut like swords Why instead you’re laughing? You won’t ever occupy my mind And I lied, this time I lied Don’t waste your time confusing me With the whirlpool of lies infusing me They won’t ever occupy my mind Try and find access denied Don’t waste your time confusing me With the whirlpool of lies infusing me They won’t ever occupy my mind Try and find access denied

Cosmic Roses Through all the dark times filled with thunder and rain I’d follow you, I’d follow you, I’d follow you Your love is like roses Beautiful but also sharp Your love’s cosmic roses Glowing in a cold lonely dark If I could heal the core of your deepest pain, I’d cure it through, I’d cure it through, I’d cure it through Your love is like roses Beautiful but also sharp Your love’s cosmic roses Glowing in a cold lonely dark I never thought It could be an error Or I have been shot with a wrong love arrow I just got lost in the space between our eyes I just got lost in the breath between our sighs Your love is like roses Beautiful but also sharp Oh your love’s cosmic roses Glowing in a cold lonely dark I got lost, I got lost in the space I got lost, I got lost in the space I got lost
8.
Leave the Night (Blurred Spaces Remix) When my darkness Falls again It wraps around me Like an old friend And all these places The space between And by tomorrow They became me Can I? Can I deny? Can I? Can I hide? These spaces blur me Where I shed my skin I turned around and saw I was leaving Leaving the night I leave the night With open eyes I leave me behind The space between The blurring lines All that’s left of me I leave behind
9.
Musical Express I have no special ticket, only my heart to offer Will it be enough to secure my place? Your passengers seem to be much tougher By all means they want to win this race Take me away with you, musical express You must be overcrowded, I’ll stand up for my success Music is my lifetime non-stop romance Let me finally win in this game of chance Stay safe and sound in the economy class Full of desperate seekers of fame In awe of the first class glittering stars They strive to be the same brand name Take me away with you, musical express You must be overcrowded, I’ll stand up for my success Music is my lifetime non-stop romance Let me finally win in this game of chance A thrilling journey with ups and downs You are worshipped heroes or public clowns Will they throw you out of your comfort seat Or put your statue on your hometown street? Finally Take me away with you, musical express You must be overcrowded, I’ll stand up for my success Music is my lifetime non-stop romance Let me finally win in this game of chance

Too Late 07:02 video
Too Late Are you ready to take a risk? Prepared for a damage to fix? That this tempting challenge may bring What this tempting challenge may bring? So, what is your final choice? Don’t suppress that voice Inside you don’t break this soul string Inside you don’t break this soul string Don’t hesitate, Or it will be too late Oh wait, is it already too late? Don’t, don’t hesitate, It will be too late Oh wait, is it too late? Can you hear through the buzz of your thoughts? In your head they go in circles with no stops Such a simple mechanism of your daily routine, your daily routine Oh such a simple mechanism of your daily routine You’re a misfit in the society of lies, Those empty promises the others give to compromise Do you still want to fight, or you surrendered and gave in, surrendered and gave in? Do you still want to fight, or you surrendered and gave in? Don’t hesitate, Or it will be too late Oh wait, is it already too late? Don’t, don’t hesitate, It will be too late Oh wait, is it too late? Give up adapt sleep eat work repeat Give up adapt sleep eat work repeat Work Eat Sleep Repeat So, don’t, don’t hesitate, It will be too late Oh wait, is it too late? The challenge is…accepted

about

"Chilly, shiny, drama-filled synth pop"
- Electronic Sound

"(Lab Notes)... offers up a vibrant energy that is quite mesmerising"
- Blitzed Magazine

“A culmination of years of laborious effort, an album to be proud of is a masterpiece which reflects the artist's passionate creative process. Showcasing their innate ingenuity, this audacious work features ambitious instrumentation, intriguingly unexpected harmonies and thought-provoking lyrics that are sure to linger in listeners minds long after it ends, and in doing so, wanting you to return to press repeat”

- Revival Synth

Originally from Kazakhstan, with a multinational background and having been based in Finland for over a decade now, lead singer and songwriter Dasha Larks considers herself more as a world citizen believing that people are what makes a place home.

Through her music she reflects on her own experience and observations of how society treats people who don’t really fit the mould – society’s outsiders. One of the most important elements in her songwriting is hope, no matter how dark the main lyrical theme might sound. These include Xentinel, Kevin O’Rahilly (Chain Complex), Sean Albiez (Ghost Elektron, Nostalgia Deathstar), Daniel Kiff (Kiffie) and Timo Jalkanen (Montage Collective)

Pulse Lab’s contributions to Generation Blitz 1 & 2 compilations helped her find a global fandom, with people drawn to her dramatic songs that explore pop’s darker side. Since then Dasha has released a crop of singles and has collaborated with emerging artists from the electronic music and synth scenes, including Wavewulf (US), Montage Collective (Australia) and truthscan, Kiffie, Maxx Silver, Richard Davies (UK) and Projekt Ich (Germany).
